Judd family friends stunned by alleged ‘break’ over Naomi’s will

After news broke that Naomi Judd had named her widower as executor of her estate, numerous reports emerged that her daughters, Wynonna Judd and Ashley Judd, had been “omitted” in the will.

After that, the Daily Mail even reported that Wynonna plans to challenge the decision. But sources close to the family told Page Six they are baffled by the claims.

A source pointed out that just because Larry Strickland, her husband of 33, was put in charge of the $25 million will, doesn’t mean nothing will be left to her girls.

“It is not known whether other provisions have been made” [in the will]. You don’t know all the arrangements,” said the source.

They also said the daughters are close to Strickland, 76.

“He’s been in their lives since the late 1970s – from a very young age. He’s no stranger,’ they said.

Wynonna is reportedly upset that her late mother, Naomi, excluded her from her will.

“It’s easy for people to say, ‘There must be problems there,'” said the source. “[But] for people who have been around them, Larry has always been there. They call him ‘Pops’. They all have adjacent farms.”

The source also pointed out that both women have their own fortunes.

Naomi died by suicide on April 30.

No doubt there has been disagreement among the women.

Wynonna acknowledged that at a Brandi Carlile concert last month. Wynonna joined her onstage, calling her “a heavy period of grief” since “my mom has been gone for two months.”

“I’m the artist formerly known as ‘The Judds,'” she said, referring to the duo she formed with her mother. “My sister is here tonight, and we’re the new Judds now, and she’s sitting next to the stage.”

“I’m a Judd, not a judge… Forgiveness, call someone and say, ‘I’m sorry on my part. What can we do to heal?’” she told the crowd.

Wynonna then said, “We’re going to do that tonight.”

“We’re very disconnected because of the schedule and whatever you want to say – family dysfunction, but we showed up tonight,” she said before singing “Love is Alive” and dedicating it to Ashley.

“We’re going to sing this song in honor of my sister, because it’s been about 12 years since she heard me sing, and it’s the beginning of a new chapter,” she said.

Our source told us Wynonna was “very honest and open.” And while they haven’t talked about the will yet, “if Ashley or Wynonna want to say something, they’ll get it out,” they said.
